What you should want for and from your business is a return on investment. Over the years, you have received compensation for working for your business and hopefully you have received some forms of compensation for owning your business.
The compensation you receive for owning your business comes in two different forms: the first is the earnings in excess of the compensation you would pay someone else for the operating position you hold in the company. Let’s not confuse compensation for working in your business with the compensation you earn for owning your business. The difference between the two is where value can be created.
The second form of compensation is the psychological income from being your own boss and owning your business.
